The Bishop of the Diocese of Embu, Rt. Rev. Peter Kimani Ndung’u, has condemned the chaos witnessed on Saturday at a political gathering at Nembure Stadium in Embu, where at least two people reportedly lost their lives, and several others were injured.
Speaking at Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Itabua Prayer House in Cathedral Parish during the Sunday Mass, Bishop Kimani expressed concern over the rising cases of violence, urging political and community leaders to act responsibly and ensure their actions do not expose innocent residents to danger.
The Bishop called on leaders to promote peace and avoid statements or actions capable of creating tension, inciting violence, or dividing communities.
He also urged young people to remain peaceful and cautioned them against allowing themselves to be used to disrupt meetings or gatherings and cause trouble.
Bishop Kimani asked Kenyans to pray for Embu County and the country, emphasizing that peace and unity remain essential to society’s well-being and development.
