Kenya Catholic Lawyers Association to Hold Inaugural Red Mass in Nairobi

The Kenya Catholic Lawyers Association (KECLA) will tomorrow, Friday, June 26, 2026, hold its inaugural Red Mass at the Holy Family Minor Basilica in Nairobi.

According to an invitation issued by the association, the event will bring together members of the legal fraternity, religious leaders, and other stakeholders for a special service dedicated to seeking God’s guidance in the administration of justice and the promotion of peace in society.

The procession preceding the mass is expected to begin at the Supreme Court before proceeding to the Holy Family Basilica, where the service will commence at 2:00 p.m.

This year’s theme is “Walking in the Footsteps of St. Thomas More: Guided by the Holy Spirit Towards Trust, Justice and Peace.”

KECLA says the event will also feature a media address after the mass, providing an opportunity to highlight the role of faith and ethical leadership in the legal profession.

The association has invited media houses to cover the occasion, which marks a significant milestone in its efforts to strengthen the relationship between faith, justice, and public service in Kenya.

The Red Mass is traditionally celebrated within the Catholic Church to invoke divine wisdom and guidance for judges, lawyers, lawmakers, and all those involved in the administration of justice.
