Two parish priests have officially taken up new responsibilities following leadership changes in different parishes within Our Lady of Visitation Deanery in the Diocese of Embu.
Rev. Fr. Alex Munene, who had been serving as assistant priest at Iriamurai Parish, has taken over as parish priest of St. Francis of Assisi Nthagaiya Parish.
He replaces Rev. Fr. John Macharia, who has been transferred to Christ the King Kathunguri Parish.
At Kathunguri Parish, Fr. Macharia assumes leadership from Rev. Fr. Jeremiah Nyaga, who has been moved to Gwakaithi Parish to serve as an assistant priest.
The changes were formally overseen on Monday by Rt. Rev. Peter Kimani Ndung’u during separate handover ceremonies.
The bishop, who was present at both events, prayed for the priests and urged them to serve the faithful with love, humility, and dedication in their new assignments.
He was accompanied by his executive secretary Rev. Fr. Michael Phillip Ireri and the Vicar General, Very Rev. Fr. Eliud Wanyoike.
Parish leaders and assistant priests also witnessed the transitions, marking a smooth and orderly leadership reshuffle aimed at strengthening pastoral service in the two parishes.
