Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Human Capital Development and Special Programmes, Geoffrey Kiringa Ruku, has called for integrity, professionalism and strict adherence to the law in the recruitment of two new members of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
Speaking during the inaugural meeting of the selection panel tasked with identifying nominees for appointment to the Commission, Ruku emphasized the critical role the panel plays in safeguarding constitutional values and ensuring effective governance in the education sector.
The Cabinet Secretary noted that the formation of the panel reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring a smooth, seamless transition within the Commission following the declaration of vacancies.
He congratulated His Excellency the President for appointing the Selection Panel to fill the vacancies within the stipulated timelines to ensure there is smooth and seamless transition at the Teachers Service Commission.
Ruku also congratulated the panel members on their appointment, terming it a mark of confidence and trust from the government.
He reminded the panel of the constitutional mandate of independent commissions, stressing that their work must uphold democratic principles and promote constitutionalism.
The CS urged the panel to conduct the recruitment process with objectivity and integrity, while observing all legal frameworks, including Chapter Six of the Constitution on leadership and integrity.
Ruku further emphasized the need to adhere to established procedures under the TSC Act and relevant laws to ensure transparency and accountability in the exercise and assured the panel of the government’s full support throughout the process.
The selection panel is expected to identify and forward names of qualified candidates for appointment to the TSC, in line with constitutional and legal requirements.
