Christians have been urged to seek God’s grace and not rely on their own merits, as God’s reward system is guided by His divine will and not human calculations.
Preaching during a Holy Mass at Our Lady of Assumption Parish – Embu, assistant parish priest Rev. Fr. John Nyaga said God rewards according to His grace and not according to how long one has served.
Reflecting on the Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard, where labourers who reported to work at different times were paid the same wage, Fr. Nyaga noted that God is not bound by time but by the disposition of the heart.
“In God, there is no issue of time. What we do and how we do it is what God looks at,” Fr. Nyaga said.
Quoting the landowner in the parable – _”Am I not allowed to do what I choose with what belongs to me?”_ – the priest warned Christians against envy and jealousy, reminding them that God’s generosity should not be a cause for resentment.
He explained that time does not limit God’s grace, and that latecomers in faith are equally welcomed into His Kingdom.
Fr. Nyaga further called on the faithful to continue supporting and evangelizing in the Diocese of Embu, which has been in existence for four decades.
The Diocese of Embu was established on 20th September 1986 and is currently marking 40 years of faith.
The call comes as the Diocese celebrates its Ruby Jubilee under a year-long program of prayer and thanksgiving.
