Christians have been challenged to embrace a life of service, love and humility by following the example of Jesus Christ, whose Sacred Heart symbolizes compassion and selfless devotion to humanity.
Speaking during the celebration of the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus at Sacred Heart Kyeni Parish, Parish Priest Fr. Alex Mati urged the faithful to become instruments of God’s love by serving others and spreading blessings within their families and communities.
Fr. Mati reminded Christians that God’s love for humanity remains constant despite human shortcomings and failures. He called on the faithful to respond to that love through acts of kindness, mercy and forgiveness.
“We should strive to make our hearts resemble that of Christ — hearts filled with forgiveness, mercy and humility,” he said.
Reflecting on God’s deliverance of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt, Fr. Mati noted that the biblical event serves as a reminder of God’s faithfulness and care for His people.
He said Christians have every reason to thank God for His countless blessings and acts of mercy.
The priest further emphasized that every person was created by God for a unique purpose and should use their gifts to serve others and glorify God.
He also encouraged Christians to remain rooted in prayer, describing it as the foundation of a strong relationship with God and a source of guidance in life’s journey.
On the importance of humility, Fr. Mati pointed to Jesus Christ’s obedience to God the Father, urging believers to emulate His example in their daily lives.
The priest called for greater love and unity among Christians, saying that communities that live in harmony and mutual support are better positioned to experience God’s blessings.
He further challenged the faithful to embrace forgiveness, noting that Christ gave His life for the salvation of humanity and expects His followers to forgive one another despite disagreements and misunderstandings.
