The Diocese of Embu Bishop Rt. Rev. Peter Kimani Ndung’u has cautioned Christians, especially young people, against relying excessively on artificial intelligence (AI) and social media for guidance in life, saying not everything found online is true.
Speaking during a Confirmation Mass at Good Shepherd Parish, Ishiara, where 186 learners received the Sacrament of Confirmation, Bishop Kimani urged the faithful to seek truth in the Bible, the Gospel, and the teachings of the Church rather than depending entirely on digital platforms.
The bishop warned that some social media content had contributed to the corruption of morals and weakening of faith among young people, noting that many individuals have lost direction in life after turning to online sources for solutions to personal challenges.
“Do not depend entirely on artificial intelligence and social media for answers about your life. Seek the truth in God’s word and the teachings of the Church,” he said.
Addressing the newly confirmed learners, Bishop Kimani reminded them that Confirmation comes with the responsibility of becoming witnesses of Christ and spreading the Gospel wherever they go.
He told the learners that they had been sent by Jesus Christ to preach the Word of God to fellow students, friends, and family members, especially during the school holidays.
The bishop emphasized that Christ’s mission was not only to preach but also to overcome evil, urging the learners to stand firm in faith and reject immoral practices in society.
He also encouraged them to remain obedient to God’s commandments and respect their parents as they continue their spiritual journey.
Bishop Kimani further assured Christians that Christ walks with them even during difficult moments, describing God’s constant presence as a sign of His enduring love for humanity.
During the celebration, the bishop commended students of St. Monica Girls for maintaining discipline, noting that the school is among the few schools in Embu County which had not experienced unrests.
He praised the religious sisters and school administration for their commitment to nurturing disciplined and morally upright learners.
A total of 186 Christians received the Sacrament of Confirmation during the ceremony attended by parents, teachers, church leaders, and hundreds of faithful.
